The Afflicted is the second stage of the Whirler and is the evolution of the Whirler. They whirled too hard and went too many levels deep and ate the wrong Flesh Growths that are now growing inside them. Only the temporary stage that leads to the Taken.

9x9 Part 2 Quadrant

Used to be a normal Whirler. Whirled too hard and went a few levels too deep. Only a temporary path to something more horrific. In Wingdings: (The taken requires more biomass.There is a finite amount of worlds in the multiverse and the Mire will consume all. The only world to survive an event was the Bunker, yet through the Taken nothing will survive)

Trivia

• The Wingding text on the Afflicted says "The Cloud Room must be found at all costs." and "Can you see The true path through the cold and dark to find such a thing?"
• The Afflicted, the Whirler, and the Empty Laborer all seem to progress from one to another. The Foomer is also a well kempt version of the Whirler.
• In the 9x9 part 2, there is progression from the Whirler quadrant to the Afflicted quadrant and finally to the Taken quadrant
