A Separationist or Separatist is a rebel against The Computer and its rule. Separationists want to create a free commune that oppose the Computer rule. They act supporting worker revolts across all the Bunker, specially at the lower levels.

Although the separationists not having a fix set of uniform, they are usually recognizable by their trademark red berets and later on, in the Neoseparatist era, by their by their symbol stamped on their clothes.

History[]

Original Movement[]

What started as a series of worker riots, the separationist movements it soon evolved into a rebel group united under the common ideology of isolationism and that the common worker should be ruling each level. Under the guidance of the experienced guerilla combat specialist Thomas Weswell (a ex-Omega Crusader soldier), the movement quickly grew in numbers some months after the fog incident and became a legit fighting force.

Making deals with lower levels weapons manufacturers and crime syndicates, they could supply the movement ammunition and firearm necessary to make their biggest attack yet. Their target was level 34, a large farm level with a small weapon manufacture factory. That was the perfect place to try to build their first independent level.

After a blood battle against the Computer forces there, the Separatists forces took control of the level. However, that was just a temporary victory, as the microfarms on the level were burned during the conflict. The Computer forces then proceeded to block any exit from the level, trapping the rebels there without food.

The siege persisted for many cycles, weakening the Separationists, with some either going to the point of even dying or resorting to cannibalism to survive. The final nail that the Computer put in their coffin, was the order to send the new created Elite Guard to make it's premier on the level against the starving rebels. The super-soldier slaughtered every separatist with extreme ease while a hired reported broadcasted the images to the whole Bunker on Computerist screens.

The last person to be executed by the Elite Guard was the separatist leader Thomas Weswell, nicknamed "Seppy" by his followers. Seppy got his spine broken by the Computer soldier, ending the incident that would be later know in the Bunker history as: The Level 34 Massacre. Nothing for the successor Separatist movement or any other wannabe rebel group was the same after this event.[1]

Resurgence and Neoseparatists[]

After the Level 34 massacre, the remaining Separatists retreat to the lower levels to recover their ranks from the big loss. During their time on the shadows they finally understood that the only way to combat the Computer tyranny would be for them to become as ruthless as their opponent.

Rebranding themselves as "the Neoseparatists", the new movement began to liberate unsupervised lower and isolated levels and disrupting mid levels by instigating worker riots with the spread of their ideals.

The main focus for the Neoseps to build up the number on their ranks and liberate as many levels as possible so they can declare full war on the Computer. Their current number easily exceeds what they originally had during their prime time and now are a genuine threat to The Computer.[2]

Doctrine[]

Since their conception, the Separatist movement had their first and most important goal to be the liberation of the workers. On the separatist vision, the worker is being explored and abused by the Computer and the Departments. Because of this, the separatists believes that armed revolution is needed to dethrone any authority that might want to enforce the Computer's regulations or their own personal rules upon others.

Once the of system is overthrown, the separatists create a local government base around the concepts of communal economy and direct democracy. The level is then rebuild to be self sustained, with all resources needed to sustain the local population. While the level is re-porpused they might need to trade with outside levels for resources, even if sometimes it goes against their principles.

After escaping level 88's ailed ventilation, Harold joined a splinter cell separatist group on level 90. He gained the respect of the group and became a sort of "captain", hence his nickname, for the group.

Relationships with other factions[]

Computerists[]

To any Separatist, the Computer and it's servants are the main enemy; a tyrannical and oppressive government that may be taken down at all costs . There are cases that some separatists hate the Computerists so much, that they refuse to use technology stolen from them.

For the Computerists, the separatist movement are a bunch of ungrateful rebels that must be destroyed for betraying the holy Computer. On the greater scheme of things, the Computer don't have the Separatists as a top priority, being nothing more than a constant headache that gets in the way of dealing with bigger problems.

Boggists[]

Despite both factions wanting to be free from the Computer and establish the values of human rights in the Bunker, the ways in which they plan to achieve this is wildly different. Separatists despise Boggist's greed and class elitism and believe that the laissez faire system they want to bring gonna be as expressive as the current Computerist rule. On the other hand, Boggists feel like the collectivist philosophy of the Separatists limits the individual and gonna eventually evolve into a repressive form of government.

ALARM:[]

By being a Pro-Computer militia, Separatists and ALARMers usually don't get along well. Unlike ALARM, Separatists don't differentiate between the Computer and the Departments, and think that only getting rid of the former will not create real change. The Separatists are also unsure on what the Yellow-White Thought and think that many ALARMers don't really have a backbone and just blindly follows Generalissimo orders as a cult of personality.

On their side, ALARMers thinks that the Separatist movement is very misguide on how they want to fight for the workers well being. They believe that the movement is unorganized and prone to create more bad than good with their insurrectionary lunges. Some more radical ALARMers even believe that they may be manipulated by the Bogs themselves.

Currently they have a non-aggression alliance, but as conflict appears

Eventists[]

Maybe the biggest allies of the Separatists, the Eventists support many of their ideals and both are willing to help each other with supplies and manpower. The Separatist think the Eventists are wrong by believing the Event was fake but they are willing to let them follow their beliefs and let them go to the Surface once

Coalition[]

As to date, the Separatists are unaware to the existence of the Coalition, even if they heard some rumors about it. However, under the curtains, the Coalition tries to use the separatists as proxies to weaken the Computer. The Coalition sends double agents to spy and reinforce the separatists ranks and always try to supply them by selling them weapons at low costs under fake aliases.

Inteerferencia[]

Like almost all other factions, the separatists are a target for the pranks of Interferencia and are very annoyed by them. However, despite their mischiefs, Interferencia somewhat admires the anti-authoritarian ideals of the separatists and try to show them in a more positive light in their rant broadcasts.
